		<description>I think Brian is getting at something more fundamental -- the idea that all the tactics I mention are pointless (and doomed to fail) unless they&#039;re harnessed to something that truly speaks to people.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;That&#039;s true enough, but it&#039;s hard to know beforehand whether you have such a thing, so it&#039;s hard to know whether you&#039;re wasting your time.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Most entrepreneurs, I would hope, believe they have a worthwhile mission. But who&#039;s to say whether they&#039;re right, except the users of each completed product?&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Lousy sites may fail because they have spent too much time on community features, it&#039;s true, but in such cases they&#039;d probably have failed regardless.  Meanwhile, worthwhile sites can fail, or at least not succeed, because they&#039;ve spent *too little* time on community features.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Anyways, now that KickApps is out there we can all stop worrying about how much time to spend on building community features, and just white-label it -- right?  :)</description>
